Across the width of the river alone, this impressive area is made up of a remarkable collection of waterfalls of varying height and power, such as the Blue Crane Falls, the Hollander Falls, the Frenchman Falls and the 3-km-long Wonotobo Falls. Here adventurous nature lovers will have an unforgettable time that will stay with them for a long time!

Wonotobo Falls
6 days / 5 nights
departure from 5 people
Day 1
Departure (time and meeting point sent by e-mail) towards Nickerie, South Drain, where we board the waiting boat. 10:00 am: departure for Apura, with a stop at Orealla in Guyana. In the afternoon we arrive in Apura, one of the indigenous villages in the Corantijn area. Lunch in a park on the Corantijn River, after which we leave for Cow Falls. We sail through impressive nature with large sandbanks in the middle of the river and beautiful rock formations that create waterfall effects (sulas) in the flowing water. Our destination is Cow Falls, where you stay in a lodge with beds and mosquito nets.
Day 2
After breakfast we leave for the Wonotobo Falls. This breathtaking trip takes us past prehistoric rock carvings (petroglyphs). We regularly see birds flying over and sometimes come across swimming wildlife. The Corantijn is known as an excellent sport-fishing area, partly because of the tarpon and the many kinds of catfish. On arrival at the Wonotobo Falls you can take a dip in the fresh water between the rocks. After dinner you can take another walk to spot animals. You can choose to spend the night in a lodge with beds and mosquito nets or in a simple hut with hammocks.
Day 3
After breakfast we cross over to Guyana, which offers a beautiful view of the Wonotobo Falls. We take a forest walk and see the petroglyphs and grinding grooves left by the indigenous people who used to live there. The afternoon is free to spend as you like. In the evening we light the barbecue at the base camp, where we also spend the night.
Day 4
After breakfast we take a forest walk to the Frenchman Falls and Blue Crane, returning to camp around lunchtime. In the afternoon there are various activities, such as fishing, swimming, rowing small korjaals on the calm part of the river, a beach or rock walk, or simply relaxing in a hammock. Overnight at the base camp.
Day 5
After breakfast we leave for Nickerie, stopping along the way for lunch and perhaps to buy indigenous souvenirs. We sail until the late afternoon and spend the night on Pigeon Island or in Apura.
Day 6
Departure to Nickerie, followed by a bus journey to Paramaribo, where we arrive in the evening.
