Description
These popular combinations give you a lot of Suriname, and a lot of experience, in a limited time. Brownsberg Nature Park is the number one destination in Surinamese tourism. Combining it with Upper Suriname saves you travel time: Brownsberg lies roughly halfway along the road to the Upper Suriname area, home to, among others, the Isadou resort near the village of Jaw Jaw. On request we also offer other combinations of Brownsberg and the Upper Suriname area.
Brownsberg Nature Park is a nature reserve of the Stinasu foundation, located in the Brokopondo district. To reach the plateau we drive up by car or bus; the mountain is 515 metres high. From the plateau, the walking trails lead to, among other places, the waterfalls: the Leo and Irene Falls. Depending on time and your stamina, we walk to one or both of the waterfalls.
The Isadou resort lies in the Upper Suriname area near the village of Jaw Jaw, 45 minutes by boat from Atjoni. In 1994 the couple Selientje Adipi and Andre Kaise started on their dream of turning a piece of land into a beautiful resort. In 2000 they opened their doors to the public. The resort has wooden lodges with private shower and toilet, and the daily work is done by Maroon staff from the nearby villages.

Brownsberg – Isadou, 3 days
€360.00 p.p. (departure from 3 people). Day 1: Brownsberg. You depart from the meeting point (time and location sent by e-mail) for Brownsberg, with a stop along the way for a tasty snack. From Brownsweg we follow an unpaved forest track to the top of Brownsberg. There you have a beautiful view of the reservoir, and you often see various animals around. After a short introduction from the guide, the walk to the waterfall begins; in this case we visit the Leo Falls. During the walk the guide tells you about the flora and fauna. At the waterfalls you can enjoy a natural ‘shower’. In the afternoon you are back at the top to recover a little. After lunch we drive on to Atjoni, where the boat is waiting for the trip to Isadou. After dinner you take a night-time boat trip to look for caimans and enjoy the silence of the river and the beautiful starry sky. Day 2: Isadou. After breakfast we go to one of the nearby villages for a village walk. You see the residents' special little houses and their daily activities, as well as the medical post and one of the primary schools the children attend. After the walk you return to the resort, where lunch is ready. Later in the afternoon you take a forest walk with the guide, after which you can relax in the rapids. Day 3: Return journey. After breakfast you have some time to yourself to enjoy the last few hours. After lunch you return to Paramaribo. Schedule The itinerary depends on the weather; it and the times may be adjusted. Parts of the programme are flexible. A special menu is available for vegetarians, provided this is explicitly requested in advance.
