About the resort

There was already accommodation on the water at Bigi Pan (which we visit on the regular 2-day Nickerie and Bigi Pan tour).
The owner of Anaula Nature Resort has built a new and much larger accommodation on the water, with the very high standard of luxury we are used to from Anaula.
The resort consists of 16 separate lodges, a restaurant and a lobby.

The lodges (50 m²) have a spacious balcony overlooking the lake.
Each lodge has its own bathroom and toilet.

Fun fact: seen from the air, the resort has the shape of a “tilapia”, a fish species common in Bigi Pan.

Bigi Pan

Bigi Pan is a nature reserve covering 68,000 hectares, with a similar area of sea water.
The area consists of swamps, mangrove forests and lakes.
Birds are abundant here, and birdwatchers will be in their element.
72 bird species live here permanently and about 50 species come to Bigi Pan every year, either as a stopover or to overwinter, the flamingo being the most famous. But there is much more flora and fauna to see!
