Dolphin spotting – sunset and dolphins tour
Spotting the Surinamese dolphin, the profosu, starts at 4:00 pm from a boat departing from Leonsberg. The profosu is a small dolphin with a short beak and a bump on its head.
Description
The river dolphin called “Profosu” is a brackish-water dolphin that lives between the coast, the Commewijne and the Suriname River.
In a covered boat (sheltered from the sun and any rain) we leave from Leonsberg in search of these dolphins.
Along the way you hear all about the surroundings, Nieuw Amsterdam, the Suriname River, the plantations and the Commewijne River.
Once we have enjoyed the dolphins and taken our photos and videos, the boat heads to Rust en Werk plantation. There we enjoy a pleasant walk with explanations about the plantation.
Then it is time to board the boat again and sail back to Leonsberg.
You can enjoy another drink on the way.
Leonsberg is the start and end point of this tour.
It is also possible to book the combined Dolphins and Caimans tour.
Please note: the tour goes ahead in all weather conditions. Only when the boatmen indicate that it is dangerous, so in an extreme storm, will we cancel the tour.
