What can you expect?

• Departure from Paramaribo: we start the day between 7:00 and 7:30 am in Paramaribo. The drive to the Brokopondo district takes about two hours. Along the way we make two stops: one for breakfast and one for a short toilet break. Your guide gives interesting background on the villages and landscape we pass.
• Arrival in Brokopondo: on arrival in Brokopondo you immediately meet the local Saramaccan people. Here you pick up fresh cassava and bananas, which are used later in the day for lunch in the jungle. Meeting the local people makes the experience even more authentic.
• The jungle hike: the hike begins along a crystal-clear, refreshing creek that winds through the jungle. As you go deeper into the jungle, you feel completely surrounded by nature. There is a good chance of seeing various animals along the way, from colourful birds to curious monkeys and perhaps even snakes. After a few kilometres we reach the first waterfall, where you can swim and cool off in the cool water.
• The second waterfall and lunch: the trek continues uphill through the jungle to the second waterfall. This is the perfect place to completely unwind. You have time to swim, relax and take photos of this beautiful spot. Meanwhile your guide prepares a delicious meal with the freshly picked ingredients. Enjoy a tasty lunch in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by nature.
• Wildlife spotting: throughout the tour your guide helps you spot wildlife. The jungle is full of life, from colourful birds and monkeys to possibly snakes and other exotic animals. It is a great chance to learn more about the flora and fauna of Suriname.
• Back to Paramaribo: after an impressive day in the jungle we start the journey back to Paramaribo. We expect to be back in the city around 7:00 pm, with a head full of memories of an adventure in the heart of Suriname's nature.
