Dan Paati

You can walk the four hundred by sixty-five metres in a few minutes, yet this island offers plenty of variety. The cabins and the restaurant form an enclave of mown lawn, flowering faya lobi and raked sandy paths.

Description

Tour description

Please ask about availability and prices.
Danpaati means “island by the village of Dan” and lies in the middle of the tropical rainforest, surrounded by the nature of the Amazon and a few small Saramaccan villages.
Here you can immerse yourself in the unspoilt beauty of wild nature, learn about the local culture or simply laze in one of the hammocks on the Upper Suriname River,
while at the same time contributing to the care of the local people, as Danpaati River Lodge offers these holidays under the umbrella of sustainable development.
Danpaati River Lodge is for anyone looking for a holiday that's just a little different, with activities for relaxing, adventure on exciting jungle treks, village walks with local guides, swimming, and learning from contact with the local people.

Highlights

  • Your choice! Fill your stay however you like!
  • Guided walks through the nearby Saramaccan villages.
  • Dugout-canoe excursions to deserted creeks and exhilarating rapids.
  • Educational forest walks.
  • An exciting evening excursion in search of caimans.
  • Workshops in local, centuries-old crafts.
  • Massages and herbal baths.

Good to know
Your stay at Danpaati contributes to the regional development of nature and the economy, with an extensive care project for the elderly and children in the area at its heart. The lodge also generates a lot of economic activity in the immediate area:
Danpaati River Lodge buys farm produce, fish and meat from local producers, woodcarvers can sell their souvenirs through the lodge, and carpenters from the villages are regularly hired for maintenance work.
