• Apetina and Tebutop expedition

  Sleeping in a hammock, bathing in the river: back to nature, as far as possible following the traditional way of life of the Wayana. After an hour and a half's flight the plane stops just before the river, where Wayana boys wait to take visitors by korjaal to Pïrëumë (Apetina).

  The village was founded around 1940, after a mass exodus of the Wayana people from Brazil. Fleeing tribal wars, they crossed the Paru River and the Tumuc-Humac mountains into Suriname. Adventurers will be in their element here: you can climb the Tebutop and sleep in a camp by the river!
