South of the reservoir the real interior begins: an area where, to name two special features, no cars drive and the population is not mixed. The area is called Upper Suriname, after the upper reaches of the Suriname River.
Departure times and meeting points can change. If they do, everyone who has booked receives an e-mail straight away.
2 or 3 days in Upper Suriname at Lobi Lafu
Including:
2-day tour: Upper Suriname Adventure
We leave Paramaribo early in the morning; the first stop is Klaaskreek, where we have a small breakfast. Then we continue to the small river port of Pokigron.
There we board the white-water raft and paddle to the beautiful Lobi Lafu resort, wearing life jackets of course.
The first stretch to Lobi Lafu is calm water, so you can get used to the boat. It stays calm all the way to Lobi Lafu.
On arrival at the holiday camp we have lunch, then eat, relax, fish and swim in the beautiful Aprensina rapids. Then there is time for a forest walk, where we get to know the rich flora and fauna of the jungle.
In the evening there is time for a campfire, romantically by the river, enjoying the sounds of the forest.
You can sleep in hammocks, but beds are also provided.
Day 2:
After getting up and having breakfast, we start the day on the cableway (zipline), combined with abseiling, flying across the Upper Suriname River.
After lunch it's time to say goodbye to beautiful Lobi Lafu and get back into the white-water raft. This time the water is a little less calm as we raft to the village of Duwatra. There we get a cultural village walk and see how the Saramaccan Maroons still live and work in the traditional way.
Around 3:00 pm we head towards Paramaribo, arriving in the city at about 6:00 pm.

Apia was a man from the village of Gran Slee. The island (paati in Saramaccan) is named after him because he was the first to build a camp there.
