What do you need to visit Suriname?

Arriving at Suriname's airport: Welcome to Suriname

Which documents you need depends on your nationality and on the country you are travelling from, and the rules can change. Below we list what to check and where you can always find the latest information.

Check before you travel

  • Passport – valid for your entire stay; we recommend at least 6 months of validity on arrival.
  • Visa, e-visa or tourist card (entry fee) – depending on your nationality you either need a visa or pay an entry fee online in advance on the official Suriname e-visa website. Print the confirmation and bring it with you.
  • Return or onward ticket – proof that you will leave Suriname again, such as a return ticket or a ticket to a neighbouring country.
  • Health – if you arrive from or via a country with yellow fever, a yellow fever vaccination certificate may be required. Ask a travel clinic or your doctor which vaccinations are required or recommended for you.
  • Travel insurance – with cover for medical costs, strongly recommended.

Always the latest rules

The most reliable, up-to-date source is the IATA Travel Centre: enter your nationality and departure country to see exactly what applies to you. Also check your own government's travel advice and, if in doubt, ask your airline.
